Time to Register, Volunteer for LOGOS -- Messenger 9 / 2010

The LOGOS youth education program is scheduled to start next month, so that can mean only one thing: it’s time to register kids and volunteers!

In its third year at Grace Lutheran Church of La Grange, LOGOS is a non-denominational national ministry that seeks to build young Disciples of Jesus Christ. The ministry works by bringing kids into church mid-week to experience church community and the love of God in a fun, safe and educational environment. Kids rotate through four sessions: Bible Study, Family Time (dinner with a table parent), Worship Skills (music) and Recreation.

Grace Lutheran’s LOGOS program has transformed the faith lives of many youth and adult volunteers. It has been a blessing because of the almost equal ratio of adult to children. While all adults who have children registered in the program are asked to share of their time and talents at some point in the year, adults don’t need to have children in the program to volunteer. LOGOS is always looking for volunteers of all ages to continue to build relationships and model Christian values to youth. LOGOS volunteers are used in all four areas, from kitchen crew to bible study teachers, to recreation leaders to music assistants.

LOGOS will meet Wednesdays, following the local school calendars, from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. beginning, Wednesday, October 6. (The start time for LOGOS is 15 minutes later this year to accommodate the schedules of youth and volunteers.) LOGOS is open for children ages preschool through eighth grade.

For more information, either pick up a detailed brochure in Fellowship Hall or go to www.gracelutheran-lg.org to download a registration form. Questions may be directed to Alice Oscarson at (708) 415-4379. Forms can be submitted to the church office.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.” Acts 2:42
