From Senior Pastor Saïd Ailabouni

Dear Brothers and

Sisters in Christ,

September is going to be an exciting month for us here at Grace Lutheran Church of La Grange.

Rally Day is set for Sunday, September 12. It will usher in a new year of Sunday School for all grade levels, including adults. The children will come into classrooms that have been polished and painted and made beautiful for their enjoyment. Their teachers can’t wait to welcome them with a loving and caring spirit.

Midweek ministries will resume as well. The Bible study classes I lead on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings will start on September 13 and 15 respectively. The focus this year will be on Jesus through the witness of the early church, as recorded in The Acts of the Apostles. Some of the questions we will ponder will be: Why would anyone want to follow someone who was crucified? Whose followers claimed that He was raised from the dead on the third day? Why did the early followers give everything they had for the sake of their faith in Jesus whom they confessed as Lord and God? Isn’t it amazing that Stephen was willing to die for the sake of his faith, and Paul was transformed from a persecutor of the church to one of its most faithful leaders! We will not skip a verse or a chapter!

New staff should be in place by the time you read this issue of The Messenger. A letter providing information regarding new staff, an updated organizational chart and a description of “who to go to” for certain ministry areas should be arriving in your mailbox any day. Please be patient with all of us as we move through this transition. Your support will help to make the transition as smooth as possible. I am excited about the team we have and what God is doing among us. I felt your prayers as we interviewed a large number of highly qualified people who were eager to serve. Unfortunately, we could only hire one person for each part-time position. Join us in giving thanks for this amazing group of people, and take the time to get to know them.

 In Christ,

Pastor Saïd Ailabouni
