Tim Weisman has been named Pastoral Assistant for Youth Education and Music at Grace Lutheran Church for the 2010-2011 academic year.
In this new role, Tim has launched a Children’s Church ministry for the 11 a.m. worship hour. He is also assisting with the teaching of Confirmation students, is conducting all handbell choirs, and has developed a new worship-music gathering with and for Grace’s high school youth. Tim has a passion for the proclamation of the Gospel through musical and educational ministries, and he joins the staff of Grace with excitement and joy for the opportunities that await us through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Tim is a candidate for ordained ministry in the ELCA. Originally from the town of Jasper, Ind., he attended college at the University of Evansville (Ind.), graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance in 2005. He completed both the Master of Music program at Yale School of Music (2007) and the Master of Divinity program at Yale Divinity School (2009). While in New Haven, Tim served as Director of Music at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milford, Conn., leading adult, handbell, and children’s choir programs.
He recently completed a twelve-month ELCA internship at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Wash., where he was particularly
involved with the Spark Children’s Ministry, the Winter Hospitality
Overflow (WHO) homeless shelter, and St. Paul’s emerging media-technology ministry.
Tim will spend the 2010-2011 academic year in residency at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago as he continues his path toward ordained ministry.
We are delighted to have Tim serving with us and hope that you will welcome him.
