Fun with Poetry – and Al
Older People Up to Something (OPUS) will host its monthly luncheon and presentation at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, at Grace Lutheran Church of La Grange. Carol Soudan will present Irving Berlin in song and story, and a salad luncheon with many desserts will be served. Church members are welcome to invite friends to attend! Rides may be scheduled by calling the church.
The 20 people who bought tickets to attend “The Million Dollar Quartet” will leave by bus at the Kensington door of the church at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, stopping for lunch at Dunlay’s Clark at about noon. No more tickets are available for the outing.
Al Mungai’s “Fun with Poetry” class will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, April 5 through April 26. This is a great opportunity to learn about and enjoy poetry, as Mungai is a top-notch teacher! The class costs $25 and the maximum enrollment is 20. For more information or to register, call Natalie Johnson.
Planning has begun for the Adult Vacation Bible School session to be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, July 19 through Thursday, July 22. Persons interested in helping with planning are invited to call Natalie Johnson to share their ideas and lend their support! The theme is “Africa” and the event will begin under the baobab tree! Adult VBS is for adults of all ages. More information will follow.
Fair trade products (coffee, tea, cocoa and candy bars) are available the year ‘round at Grace Lutheran Church of La Grange! Money should be placed in the envelopes provided and deposited in the lock box at the head of the stairs off the Catherine narthex. Thank you for participating in FAIR TRADE.

OPUS is planning to offer a College of DuPage course this summer on Russian Composers. More information will be provided in May.
OPUS extends a big “thank you” to Grace Puls who helped organize the March luncheon. At it, historian and actor Annette Baldwin took diners back to 1887 with her portrayal of Elizabeth Van Lew, Civil War spy. Jim Granger once again earned the “dishpan hands award” for washing all the dishes. OPUS thanks everyone who pitched in to help.
