Many OPUS opportunities

Join OPUS for lunch on Feb. 10, celebrating Mardi Gras at Grace. The catered luncheon will feature chicken and sausage jambalaya, baked chicken, corn cobbettes, cole slaw, corn bread, and lots of sweets. We’ll have Mardi Gras trinkets for all. Intern pastor Dara Schuller-Hanson will reflect on her Youth in Mission trip to Mexico. You won’t want to miss the fun and the message.

Expanding Christian nurturing through LOGOS

LOGOS, when combined with Sunday Church School, youth group, vacation church school, retreats, choirs, and other ministries, provides an arena in which young people have the opportunity to: 

build Christian relationships with peers and adults from the church build developmental assets explore and experience the Christian faith enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Education - Vacation Bible School and Youth Bible Camp - Messenger 2/2010

A new, exciting VBS and Youth Bible Camp will be held in the mornings during the week of July 19-23. Children entering pre-school through sixth grade are welcome. Bible stories, fellowship, singing and games will be shared in a fun, Christian learning environment. More details and registration forms will be available after Easter.

The library has a couple of wonderful items to help in celebrating Valentine’s Day.

   You will find a VHS Video titled “The First Valentine” (VIDEO 394.2) This is the story of a teenager who meets the legendary saint and learns a lesson on love.

Preschool Valentines Day – kind words and expressions of love

January was an exciting and busy month at Grace Lutheran Preschool. The 3’s classes explored the subject of dinosaurs in January and hosted a “Dad’s Morning” on January 23. The 4’s classes learned about the season of winter as they talked about snowmen and cold weather animals. They also began their space adventure, filled with very special and fun kindergarten-readiness activities.

Come – Reorganize and revitalize evangelism

“Come and see.” (John 1:46) An Invitation Team is forming as part of this year’s efforts to reorganize and revitalize our evangelism ministries at Grace Lutheran Church. You may be just right for this ministry team. 

   If you have the gift of being willing to share your story of Jesus and his love in your life; or if you have the gift of sharing someone and something you love – Christ and his church – with another person, this team is for you. 

   Call Pastor Susan at Grace Church (708-352-0730) to be encouraged to participate in a test, small group study called Unbinding the Gospel, a resource lifted up by our synod. Over the course of 8 weeks we will study gospel, do exercises at the ends of the chapters, and pray with a 40-day personal prayer journal. If you are asked to participate, please answer, “Yes, by the help of God.”

This interview with Eudora Swanson is from the “Legacies of Grace project recorded in the 1990s. The videotape is in the church office for $15.00 and the church library.

   Eudora Swanson was in high school when her parents, Eudora and Oscar W.Olson, joined Grace. They were in Pastor O.V.Anderson’s first new member group.

(Retired Old Men Eating Out) meets for an informal, “Dutch Treat” luncheon at 11:45 am on the first Thursday of each month. Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe, is the location for our gathering of good fellowship, good conversation, and good food. If you have never attended this luncheon, why not give it a try?
