Lent is approaching and we are busy preparing for the season of reflection and fasting. As a part of my internship, I am working on a ministry project for the season of Lent. I will be preaching a series of sermons during the midweek Wednesday services on the theme of “Fasting from Stuff,” describing our ever-growing need to redirect our focus away from the stuff that takes over our lives and instead focus on Christ and faithful living. There will be a “Fasting from Stuff” Lent
devotional handbook available in print at church and on the church website. This resource is a collection of daily reflections on fasting and faithful living from members of the Grace community.
Midweek worship services will be held Wednesday mornings at 11:15 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m., beginning February 24. The morning services will feature traditional Lenten hymns and time for prayer and reflection. The evening services will be led in part by Confirmation students and 3rd - 6th grade LOGOS youth. Part of the LOGOS program is learning worship skills including leading songs, prayers and reading scripture. We are inviting them to use those skills to help lead us in worship. After the evening service there will be additional time for meditation and prayer. Please join us on this Lenten journey!
God’s peace,
Intern Pastor Dara Schuller-Hanson
