From Senior Pastor Saïd Ailabouni
Dear Brothers and
Sisters in Christ,
All fall ministries have begun! Up and running is Sunday School for all ages (including adults), confirmation preparation, LOGOS, midweek Bible studies, Young Families of Grace, Helping Hands and Hearts of Grace, youth ministries, older adult ministries, the music ministries, preschool-- to name only a few. It is not too late to participate, so give us a call [at 708-352-0730] to learn more about anything you may be interested in joining. It is deeply gratifying to see a lot of your friends and neighbors participating with you in church. Thank you for inviting them.
You can join my Bible study, “Jesus through Middle Eastern Eyes,” any time during the year since the class is divided into short courses. The first four-week course focuses on “Jesus and Women” and will be completed on Wednesday, October 7. The next four-week course will highlight Jesus’ use of the parables. It will meet on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. (beginning October 12) and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. (beginning October 14), so participants can choose a time that works best for them.
If you have not yet visited the new blog “Daily Notes of Grace” please go to: http://gracelutheran-lg.typepad.com/dailynotes/ You will find a daily devotional that is quite brief, and all of the notices that appear in the Sunday bulletin insert as well as the full text of the Messenger, all indexed for easy access.
Finally, please consider walking in the CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 18. It will benefit your health as well as the many poor who will be the recipients of our fundraising efforts.
Peace and blessings,
Pastor Saïd Ailabouni

The congregation, and especially OPUS thank Diane Svoboda for her wonderful program about solar cookers and the women in Africa at the OPUS luncheon on September 10. Thanks to Diane and the generosity of those in attendance, $675 went to the solar cooking project for solar cookers to be sent to Africa.
