As a part of my seminary studies I will be spending 12 months learning and growing in my ministry skills here at Grace Lutheran Church. I am happy to report that my first two months have been a great blessing to me. The internship committee and I felt it would be a good time for an update.
In my first two months at Grace, I have had the opportunity to help lead worship, teach confirmation, attend committee meetings and council meetings and participate in the pastoral care team.
Part of my year at Grace includes a learning/serving contract which describes all of the things I would like to do throughout the year. In addition to the things I have already been doing, I hope to get involved in the Social ministry committee, participate in planning worship services, preach once a month, attend and teach adult education classes, help with youth ministry events and continue to learn about the great variety of ministry opportunities at Grace. I will also be completing an internship project during the season of Lent.
With all these learning goals, it is going to be a busy and exciting year! I will not be alone in completing these goals; I have the support of the internship committee consisting of: Tim Caldwell, Karen Krull, Grace Puls, Kay & Bob Resch, Virginia Riedel, Rachel Settlage, Beth Wagley, Susan Walton and the committee chair, Nola Gustafson. Thank you to the whole congregation for your support!
God’s Peace,
Intern Pastor Dara Schuller-Hanson
